INFANTS BODY FOUND BURIED IN STONE JAR
The body of an infant was found last Thursday by Clarence Linville of Benge. It was contained in an earthen jar which had been sealed with sealing wax and buried in the yard near the residence. Alcohol had been poured into the jar to fill the void so that the body was in nearly a perfect state of preservation. Its origin is a complete mystery. Deputy C.Q. Lambert went out to Benge to investitate the case. There was no clue of any kind at hand. Dr. C. Henderson, the county coroner, was unable to determine the history of the infant owing to the fact that the body was thoroughly saturated with alcohol. Whether the child was still-born or had lived the doctor could not tell. The cord had been tied.

Escapes Train With
Only Head Injury
Jack Keiper, Lind youth, is recovering in Ritzville general hospital from a deep head laceration suffered when he was struck by a Northern Pacific passenger train at the main crossing in Lind Tuesday about 6:30 p.m. Keiper told the officers he noticed the crossing signals but saw a train standing by the coal dock east of the crossing and thought it was operating the signals. He did not see the passenger approaching from the west until after he had started across the tracks. The train, Northern Pacific No. 4, struck the rear of his car, badly damaging it. Keiper was placed aboard the train and brought to Ritzville for medical attention.

It’s Official!
Three Ritzville High School alumni who have held diplomas for nearly 50 years were “officially graduated” in 1921, following a discussion by school district directors Monday evening. The three — Dan Kembel, Thelma Howell Thomson and Luke Snyder — were presented diplomas at the end of semester in January, 1922, because of missing portions of their senior year during a flu epidemic. Their graduation year has remained in doubt since.

Park and rec committee meets with city council
Voters residing within the bounds of the Ritzville School District will be asked to consider a levy request from the newly-formed Adams County Park and Recreation District No. 4 on March 26. A delegation of three park and rec members addressed the Ritzville City Council Tuesday night concerning the upcoming levy request. While no formal action was taken, the council, by consensus, agreed that a lease of the pool to the district would be the best option at this time.
