Students recognized for hard work, success

WASHTUCNA – A teleconference ceremony at Washtucna schools celebrated achievements among the student body Jan. 28.

Seniors Josh Crouse, Keegan Wright and Kori Curtis were recognized for being accepted into college for next fall. Curtis will be attending Central Washington University in Ellensburg; Wright will be attending Clark College in Vancouver, Washington; and Crouse will be going to Wyoming Technical College in Laramie, Wyoming.

“My favorite thing about this small group of three seniors is that they all chose different paths that fit them,” Washtucna Principal Micheal Amend said. “Kori chose a four-year school, Keegan chose a two-year school, and Josh chose a technical college. That fits with our mission of individualized education and connections for every student and family.”

Honored with the “Student of the Semester” awards were David Jones, preschool; Emma Cordes, first grade; Maddie Mead, fifth grade; Jacey Jones, 6th grade; and Cooper Jessop, 10th grade.

The student of the semester award is decided by teachers, with secondary teachers getting together to decide on one middle school and one high school student, and elementary classrooms each picking one student to be honored.

The online celebration, attended by students and teachers from their classrooms, lasted about 15 minutes.
