Lind resident injured
TOKIO – A 26-year-old man was killed when he lost control of the truck he was driving eastbound on I-90 Monday morning, Jan. 18.
Joe Crow of Aberdeen was about 13 miles east of Ritzville and just past the Tokio exit at milepost 232 when he lost control of the Chevy Silverado he was driving, and ended up with his vehicle overturned parallel to Frontage Road.
Crow was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing his seat belt.
His passenger, 24-year-old George Crow of Lind, was transported by ambulance to East Adams Rural Healthcare before being LifeFlighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
According to the Washington State Patrol, speed too fast for conditions was the cause of the collision.
Traffic on I-90 was not blocked, but Ritzville Towing was asked to detour around Frontage Road via Danekas Road to get to the vehicle.
The collision occurred just before 7 a.m.
Chief Scott Kembel of Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 said there was no fire at the scene, but he and four other volunteers took two trucks to the scene to assist with traffic control and Emergency Medical Services.
