Volunteers pitch in for Christmas food give-away

Food Pantry serves 146 families

RITZVILLE – Food Pantry volunteers designed a drive-through process for delivering Christmas boxes of food, along with toiletry items, in front of the American Legion Hall this year.

In years past, recipients could come inside the hall, where they could help decide what went into the boxes.

Donations to make a Christmas dinner included turkeys, along with bags of potatoes and onions.

Food pantry director Carol Ewing said 146 families were served this year, surprisingly less than the 167 served last year.
