Mayor of Lind asks for good judgment until pandemic passes

LIND – With Governor Inslee shutting the state down again with COVID-19 restrictions, the Journal reached out to local mayors to find out what they see as impacts of the restrictions on their communities.

Mayor Paula Bell said being the mayor of the Town of Lind, she was obligated to follow the proclamations and guidance given by the governor.

“Since last spring, the businesses in town have had their ups-and-downs for sure, depending on which proclamations were announced,” Bell said. “Lind has had one business, that I’m aware of, that has totally closed their doors because of decreased foot traffic.”

Mayor Bell pointed out that earlier this summer, all business owners were approached by the Adams County Development Council regarding monies being offered to aid in their losses; and it was left to the owners to complete the applications.

“The citizens of Lind are wearing their masks and are continuing to practice social distancing,” Bell said. “As the holiday season approaches, the use of everyone’s own judgment for the safety of their families, as well as for all of us, is pertinent until this pandemic is in the history books.”
