OBSERVE ARMISTICE DAY IN RITZVILLE

Armistice Day last Thursday was suitably observed here, despite the fact that it was rendered disagreeable outside by a strong windstorm. Following a program at the M.E. church that was very much enjoyed, the Legion fellows played the high school a game of football at the fairgrounds. The score was 33 to 0 in favor of the big boys. The German chasers put it all over their junior antagonists, though the latter put up a game scrap.

Seniors Promise Amusing Play

One of the most amusing comedies in recent years is promised when the Ritzville high school senior class stages "Footloose" at the high school auditorium Friday. The play is built on the idea of whether modern youngsters are supervised too much or too little, Director Jean McLeod said. The conclusion reached by the play are that children should be given an opportunity to go just as far toward the solution of their problems as they possibly can before the parents step in, McLeod said.

There'll Be Ice Skating at the Golf Course!

A skating rink at the Ritzville golf course appeared by the magic of a three-day Lions Club work bee over the weekend. Nearly 30 men of the 100-man civic club put in time Friday, Saturday and Sunday, some of them all three days. Chief structure is a dirt dike 140 feet long which will raise water to a three-foot depth. Its spillway of concrete blocks was to be strengthened Monday, said Albert "Red" Hason, the club's civic improvement chairman.

Veterans Day school assembly acknowledges local veterans

A bit of history was presented to Ritzville students and members of the community during the Veterans Day assembly Thursday, Nov. 9, at Gilson Gym. Several veterans representing different branches of military service made brief comments about their service during the various wars. Amy Johnson presented a brief history of World War II with Russ Telecky and Ralph Danekas offering brief statements on their involvement during the war. Telecky was a Navyman aboard the USS Nevada in Pearl Harboron Dec. 7, 1941. He provided information involving the two-hour attack on American Forces and how his ship fared. Danekas was a B-17 pilot for the Air Force during World War II.
