Adams County under winter weather advisory

Expect rain-snow mix here overnight

RITZVILLE — While the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of the region, Adams County is expected to be sparred much of the predicted snowfall.

The advisory runs from 11 p.m. until noon tomorrow.

"A wet storm system will move in tonight and spread snow across much of North-Central andNortheast Washington and into the Idaho Panhandle, the advisory said. "Snow will be heavy at times over the mountain passes and mountain valleys with winter travel likely by Friday morning."

There is a slight chance of snow before 10 tonight; a rain-snow mix is predicted for overnight.

By 4 a.m., the local temperature is expected to climb to about 36, keeping snowfall to less than a half-inch, the weather service said.

On Friday, rain is expected to continue, with a quarter-inch to half-inch expected to fall.

The winter weather advisory said motorists should expect snow-covered roads in the Palouse, the Okanogan Highlands and the Spokane area, among other places. Motorists on U.S. Highway 195 and U.S. Highway 2 should expect blowing and drifting snow.

The advisory includes Whitman, Spokane, Adams and Lincoln counties, among other areas.
