Man killed after running stop sign

GRANT COUNTY — A 31-year-old Othello man was killed when he failed to stop at a stop sign Monday evening, Oct. 26.

Payan Medinairrael was driving southbound on Highway 262 shortly after 8 p.m. when he ran a stop sign and struck the trailer of a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 26, according to Washington State Patrol officials.

Medinairrael was deceased at the scene.

Ismael G. Silva of Moses Lake, who was driving the semi truck which Medinairrael's Toyota Camry struck the rear trailer of, was uninjured. The Toyota was totaled, and Silva's trailer had reportable damage.

According to officials, Silva was wearing his seatbelt, but it was unknown if Medinairrael was wearing his.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
