Athletic camps to begin next week

RITZVILLE - Athletic Director Greg Whitmore announced Oct. 6, athletic camps will begin next week, after the WIAA opened up the coaching window from now through the end of November for coaches to conduct some summer-like camp activities for high school and middle school athletes.

"Starting Monday, we are fortunate and excited to be allowed to do some of these activities like we did in July," Whitmore said, adding there were still lots of details to work out and he is meeting with coaches, administrators and transportation to work those out.

Whitmore said to expect more details leading up to next Monday, but for now:

Session 1 will begin next Monday, October 12th and go for about 2 weeks. Outdoor sports will go first to take advantage of favorable weather.

Session 1 Sports: HS Football/MS Football/HS Softball/Golf/HS Baseball/Cross Country/Track/Cheer

Possibly: /MS Softball/MS Baseball, but some of these depend on interest and availability of coaches.

As of now, practice times will begin at approximately 3:30 pm and last approximately 1 - 1.5 hrs. (More specifics on time as transportation details are worked through).

State County Health Department Guidelines must be followed, which currently means:

They will stay in their groups of 5 throughout the open coaching.

Athletes bring their own water bottle

Maintain 6 feet distance

ALL STUDENT-ATHLETES MUST BE SIGNED UP ON FINALFORMS

All paperwork must be completed

No fees need to be paid.
