RITZVILLE – A new round of emergency grants is available to local small businesses through Adams County Development Council.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for businesses in the county with up to 20 employees. The grant funds can be used to assist with a variety of expenses related to the impact of COVID-19.

According to Janis Rountree, Manager of Adams County Development Council, a pool of $110,000 is available until funds are exhausted, with applications being accepted until Sept. 25.

“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide another round of funding to our most struggling businesses,” Rountree said. “The last six months have been an incredibly trying time for all of the businesses in our communities, and we are hoping that this funding is helpful.”

Funding for the program is from the state’s Working Washington Small Business program and Adams County Development Council, including federal Coronavirus Assistance, Recovery and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds to help with COVID-19 response and recovery efforts across Washington State.

“The length and depth of the pandemic have hit small, main street businesses hard,” Washington State Department of Commerce Director Lisa Brown said. “In particular, restaurants, hotels and other service industries have not seen the expected number of customers. Small businesses need these resources to stay open as we respond to the public health crisis and help people get back to work.”

The Department of Commerce partnered with Adams County Development Council and the 32 other local economic development organizations statewide to make a new portion of $10 million in Working Washington Small Business Emergency grants available. Applications and administration of the new funds are run by the local organizations that serve all 39 counties.
