Freedom over government

Perhaps the members of the Ritzville City Council have allowed City Hall to be opened to the citizenry. If so, this would be good news.

Our “public” buildings should not have been closed.

The revolution of 1776 was NOT fought to protect government employees from the citizens of the land. Nor was the revolution meant to establish authoritarian government which appears to be the route we are now traveling.

Our Washington state governor is exercising authority that would

make our pre-revolution English overlords proud. Denominational religious authorities are taking the knee in obeisance to the edicts of the governor so our local churches leaders are told to obey the governor. First amendment be damned! Our governor is our leader and we obey our leader.

Local mayors, city council members, county commissioners seem willing to accept the governor’s edicts, real or imagined as law of the land. “We have to obey the governor” they tell us. First Amendment once again, be damned!

Whether these folks, religious or secular, understand their shame is not clear.
