Visiting Ritzville

RITZVILLE – Prosser residents admire the lifelike characteristics of this statue created by Ritzville resident Lamar Thiel while visiting Ritzville Thursday, August 13. From left are Yakira Pryor, 8; Daniel Bradshaw, 12; Crystal Jarrett; Jason Bottoms, 9; and Amiliannah Jarrett, 10. The statue, located next to the Railroad Depot Museum on W. Railroad Avenue, commemorates 16 Volga German pioneer families who journeyed west by wagon train in 1882. Asked what their favorite thing about Ritzville was, Bottoms happily piped out "My mom!" He said his mother, Tara Bradshaw, was flagging at the wind turbine project, and they were waiting for her to get off work. Amiliannah Jarrett said she liked all the statues in town. "I like the way it's old fashioned. It's a nice little town," Bradshaw said. "I like the old buildings. And it's very quiet," Crystal Jarrett said. "It's very pretty," Pryor said.
