Adams County Sheriff's Office hit by COVID-19

RITZVILLE - Adams County Sheriff's Office announced a correctional staff member, a staff member outside of the facility and three inmates of the Adams County Jail have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Undersheriff Adolfo Coronado, the correctional staff member tested positive Aug. 6, and after alerting command personnel immediately, went home to isolate. He is set to return to work within the next few days.
The following day, Aug. 7, the Adams County Health Department conducted further testing of individuals at the Adams County Jail. Test results Monday, Aug. 10, showed three inmates testing positive.
Additional test results for two staff members in the jail and Dispatch showed negative results.
The staff member outside of the facility who tested positive Aug. 7 is isolating at home, and is expected to be cleared to return to work next Monday, according to Coronado.
"The Sheriff's Office is working with Adams County Health Officials to best handle the situation," Undersheriff Coronado said Aug. 11. "At this time, all precautions and safety measures are being taken per guidelines for the facility."
According to the Adams County Health Department, as of Monday, Aug. 10, there were three new COVID-19 cases in Ritzville, and 24 new cases in Othello. Out of the 461 positive test results in Adams County since the pandemic began, 331 of those patients are now fully recovered.
As of Aug. 10, a total of 2,759 tests have been conducted in Adams County, with 2,500 of those coming back negative and 186 pending.
