Othello assisted living resident passes away

RICHLAND – Adams County Health Department announced an Adams County resident in his late 70s passed away at Kadlec Medical Center July 23. The name of the individual was not released.
The health department did not specify the cause of death of the male, who was a resident of Coventry House Assisted Living in Othello. The health department called it the first Adams County “COVID-19 associated death,” and said a diagnosis of COVID-19 was laboratory confirmed.
A death investigation at Coventry is underway.
Coventry House Assisted Living staff stated “efforts made by everyone to keep all of the Coventry House family safe have been, and will remain, extraordinary.”
Adams County Health Department officials said Adams County communicable disease investigative staff members are following up with people who have been in close contact with the individual.
“Those with a known contact have been tested for COVID-19, asked to quarantine, and are awaiting results,” officials stated.
Adams County reported test results from the mass testing of Coventry House were still pending. Forty new confirmed cases in Othello were reported Monday, July 27, including 25 from the weekend. It was not known how many new cases were connected to the long-term care facility.
