New redesign concepts to be presented

Ritzville – Conceptual designs for the Downtown Revitalization Project will be presented today, July 22, in a Zoom meeting from 3-5 p.m.

The City of Ritzville has partnered with the WSU Rural Initiative and Innovia Foundation on the revitalization project to stimulate new business development and jobs, as well as improving streetscape for community gatherings and events.

The project kicked off with a design phase workshop in the fall of 2019. A second workshop held at the end of February, 2020, gave city staff and community members the opportunity to share ideas for development of conceptual designs with the WSU design team of staff and students.

Wednesday’s Zoom meeting will be the time for conceptual designs to be reviewed, and the public is invited to attend. At the time of the meeting, go to https://share.zoom.us and enter meeting ID 567 195 0533. Those without audio on their computer can call into the meeting by dialing long distance 1-669-900-9128.

Returning to school survey

Ritzville – Lind-Ritzville School District Superintendent Don Vanderholm is requesting parents and guardians of students to fill out a survey regarding the return to school in the fall.

In a July 14 letter to parents and guardians, Vanderholm stated while the school district hopes to host all students in “as close to normal” on-campus learning experience as possible, health and safety requirements will likely force administrators to adjust schedules. They will also be required to implement on-campus practices including daily health screenings, social-distancing, wearing masks, and upgraded sanitation procedures.

The survey, available on the district website, is due tomorrow, July 23.

The Journal will share survey results with readers after they are reviewed by the superintendent.
