Waterline projects moving forward

LIND – The city opened bids for the Community Development Block Grant waterline project July 2, and is expected to announce the winning bid at their July 14 city council meeting.

Patrick Sheehy of Century West Engineering, attending the June 23 council meeting via telephone, said the cemetery water line project is proceeding, with the pipe almost all installed, and the cement slab for a building to house the pump to be poured in the next week.

Mayor Paula Bell reported she has not received any responses from financial institutions she contacted about financing a new roof for city hall.

The city further discussed options regarding the cattle guard near the airport, and Sheehy sent the mayor some choices of pre-manufactured cattle guards. Sheehy said council member Kathy Vedder’s suggestion of just installing a gate was another option.

In new business, the city is exploring putting in a WiFi hotspot at the Lind Library. A discussion with East Adams Library District manager Kylie Fullmer is planned for a future meeting.

In discussions regarding the waste water treatment plant, the mayor reported Casie Monge was in town the previous week to show Dave Christian how to do belt pressing, and Joe Pessutti and Christian were at the plant June 23, to address some alarms.

Bell also reported the town received some noxious weed notifications, and she reported to Eric Bell of the Adams County Noxious Weed Board that the town does not currently have a licensed pesticide spray operator.

Council reviewed and approved payment of warrants from June 9-22 totaling $13,439.
