Grant funds received

ADAMS COUNTY – Innovia Foundation awarded $746,012 in grant funds to nonprofit organizations and government agencies through the COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Funds for Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

This second round of grants from the foundation numbered 165 grants focusing on childcare and youth, food assistance needs, support for immigrant and refugee communities, mental health resources and small business support.

Adams County received four grants totaling $9,000.

The Ritzville Downtown Development Association received $3,000 to provide economic recovery and support, and assistance with PPE, for the Ritz Theatre.

Ritzville School District and Lind School District were each awarded $2,500 to provide additional meals during the summer months because of COVID-related challenges to members of the Ritzville community.

The Ralston Grange received $1,000 to provide food, safety and well-being to residents of the Ritzville community.

Neighboring Lincoln County received $19,000 in seven grants.

The Reardan-Edwall School District received $6,000 to support the remote learning environment in the school district.

The town if Wilbur received $5,000 to provide economic recovery and support to businesses and residents of the Wilbur community.

Other awards in Lincoln county addressed childcare, school district, and food distribution needs.

“We all know there is more work to do to support the most marginalized and low-income members of our community who are adversely affected by this outbreak, and we will continue to partner to strengthen people’s ability to respond and recover,” Spokane United Way President and CEO Tim Henkel said.

Innovia Foundation administers the funds in partnership with regional community advisory groups consisting of residents and leaders from health, business, education and human services sectors.

As of June 16, donations to the recovery fund for Eastern Washington and North Idaho exceeded $2.7 million
