Session of Legislature ratifying 19th Amendment ends

The state legislature convened Monday noon in special session in response to the call of Governor Hart. The first measure to be passed was the resolution introduced by Mrs. Haskell, of Pierce County, ratifying the 19th amendment to the federal constitution, which extends the right of suffrage to women. Only one more state is required to complete the ratification and as the legislature of the state of Delaware is in session this week it is expected that the vote will favor ratification thus completing the amendment of the constitution and allowing women to vote in the next and succeeding elections.

Wheat Growers relay concerns

The nation's wheat growers recently took their concerns about upcoming farm legislation directly to their congressional representatives in Washington, D.C.

The farmers, who represent the 22 states affiliated with the National Association of Wheat Growers, urged legislators to stay the course on current farm policy and help U.S. wheat growers retain their competitive position in world export markets.

Among the specifics the wheat growers discussed were $4 per bushel target price income protection, a wheat marketing loan and opposition to federal deficit-driven acreage reduction programs.
