Carol Marie Lund passed away peacefully January 7, 2020 at her apartment while living at the South Hill Village Assisted Living retirement home.

Carol was born to Richard and Florence Koeplin in Ritzville Washington April 10, 1938. She grew up in Ritzville with her brother Harvey, her sister Diane and numerous cousins. She graduated from High School in 1956 and married Sonny Lund December 15 at the age of 18.

They moved to Benge to run the dairy with Ralph and Joyce Lund. They began their family on the farm where they had Nelson, Vicki and Gary. They bought the Arrowhead Tavern in Washtucna in 1963 and named it Sonny's Tavern and had their fourth child Julie. Carol ran the tavern for 33 years and then retired and took care of Sonny until he passed away in 1998. With the help of her kids and grandkids she re-opened the tavern for a few more years from 2005-2007 and then retired for good.

She spent most of her life in Washtucna and had many great friends. In earlier days she bowled and was on the Washtucna School Board. She loved the Cougs, the Zags and the Seahawks. She loved to play the slots at Northern Qwest and enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She loved vacations to warm destinations and spent many weekends at Lake Roosevelt boating with family and hanging out with Ruth and Butch.

Mostly she loved to be with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids where she spent so much time with and was a part of everything they did. She had seven grandkids: Mitch, Meggan, Trevor, Alissa, Matt, Derrick and Jacob. She had three great-grandkids: Maddix, Addison and Kenadie.

Her extended family includes Nelson's wife Glenda, her kids Ashlan and her husband Matt and their son Mason and Jessica; Stepdaughter Liz, husband Mike and their daughter Jacoby; Step daughter Kaitlyn and her son Blaine and daughter Chloe; Vicki's significant other Scott Kahler, his daughter Brianna and husband Shawn and their two kids Kameron and Makenzie; Gary's wife Shannie, Julie's husband Phil Purser and Mitch's wife Jamie.

We would like to thank Larry Koch for being a good friend and looking after mom the past several years. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville on Jan. 16, 2020 with a service to follow starting at 2:00 p.m. There will be a reception held down at the Legion Hall 106 W. Broadway Ritzville, WA starting at 3:00 pm.
