Washtucna, other rural districts delay start of school

Road conditions prompt some preschool closures

WASHTUCNA — Several rural school districts are delaying the start of school today due to road conditions following overnight snow.

The Washtucna School District is on a two-hour delay, officials said. Other rural districts in the area that are delayed two hours include Kahlotus, LaCrosse, Rosalia, St. John-Endicott, Steptoe and Tekoa.

Lacrosse, St. John-Endicott, and Tekoa have canceled preschool today, officials said.

And Steptoe has canceled morning preschool and will limit bus transportation to paved roads only, officials said.

Ritzville, Sprague, Lamont and Lind schools are operating on a normal schedule.
