Terran Daniel Schatz

Terran Daniel Schatz, born on August 23, 1985 in Lewiston, ID to Lee Ann Blankenship and Rob Schatz, passed away in Portland, OR on September 20, 2019.

Growing up, Terran loved spending time with family and friends. He was passionate about skateboarding and spent many hours perfecting his skills. He loved everything about comput-ers, building model cars, pinewood derby racing, and helping in the shop to restore hot rods. One of his favorite adventures was to go hiking in the Palouse River canyon with mom, friends and dogs Chomper and Minnie tagging along. He loved his cats, Megabyte and Smellycat, and bearded dragon, Solomon.

He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2003 and attended training at Fort Knox Kentucky with the Charlie Company 2nd Battalion 81st Armored Regiment, graduating on September 10, 2004. After training he was assigned to the 81st Stryker Brigade combat team. The raven in-signia on the uniform shoulder represents the fact that all units of this Brigade derive their his-tory and background as Washington State units. He was deployed to the LSA Anaconda Iraqi Air Force base- located near Balad in the Sunni Triangle 40 miles N of Baghdad, Iraq.

Terran sustained injuries as a result of an explosion when a Stryker combat vehicle in which he was a gunner, was involved in an IED attack. These injuries, along with traumatic brain injury, contributed to "Soldier's Disease" and PTSD which continued to plague him until the very end.

After returning home from the service he moved to Cheney and attended Spokane Falls Community College. Terran moved to Portland, OR in 2009 where he attended Portland Community College studying Art and Computer Aided Design and Drafting. He worked in 3-D printing and operated his own business building 3-D printers and designing parts for resale.

Terran was preceded in death by his paternal Grandparents Tom and Phyllis Schatz and Aunt Crissy Meyer. He is survived by his Son, Daniel Lee Schatz; Mother, Lee Ann Blankenship and Stepfather Brett Blankenship; Father, Rob Schatz; Grandmother, Carolyn Thompson and Joe Thompson; Sister, Kristan McKenzie; Sister, Misty Schatz; Brother, Keith Mckenzie; Step Brother, Jordan Harris. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.

The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest."- Exodus 33:14. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all, so we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is tempo-rary, but what is unseen is eternal. - 2 Corinthians 4:17-18.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Washtucna Community Church in Washtucna, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests to have donations made in honor of Terran D.
