UW students to conduct public health project in Adams County

A group of Master’s in Public Health (MPH) students from the University of Washington will be coming to Adams County in the last week of November to conduct a rural public health project.

One important public health responsibility is to work with schools and other community partners to prevent and control outbreaks of all diseases, including those that are preventable through vaccination.

The student’s project will focus on reviewing countywide information on immunization status for students in Kindergarten-12th grade. They hope to interview school administrators, school nurses, health care providers, and community members to determine what, if any, barriers exist that delay or prevent vaccine compliance.

This is the fourth year that Adams County has been selected as a site for a rural project by the UW MPH program.
