Adams County Courthouse being viewed for prestigious nomination

The Washington Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation announced on Oct. 18 that the Adams County Courthouse in Ritzville is being considered for nomination to the State and National Register of Historic Places by the Washington State Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

Those interested are welcome to attend the meeting of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. at the downtown branch of the Spokane Public Library. You are welcome to observe or participate in the process.

There are benefits to having a property listed in one or both of the registers. There is a federal tax credit program available for commercial properties for rehabilitation, and some communities offer the special valuation program at the local level.
