Peter James Hilzendeger

July 15, 1945 – September 30, 2018

Peter James Hilzendeger passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2018, after a very brief battle with aggressive lung cancer.

Pete was born July 15, 1945 in Edgeley, ND. His family farmed and after the sale of the farm moved to Aberdeen, SD after graduating in 1963. He joined the Navy, serving three tours in Vietnam as a Boatsman 1st class, running river boats.

After leaving the Navy he received a degree in law and justice. He served as a guard in the penial system and as a police officer in the Seattle area and Medical Lake, WA. After a few years Pete went into construction and then retired. He loved to fish, hunt, travel, camp and spend time with family and friends.

Pete had eleven brothers and sisters whom all passed except for one brother Valentine (Dee). Surviving, he has a son Jason (Sandy); two stepsons, Kevin and Kirk; two grandsons, Dylan and Mason; one granddaughter, Alizabeth; one step granddaughter, Elizabeth; and a great granddaughter, Adalyn; and many nieces and nephews. Pete leaves behind his wife Cheryl of 27 years. We will all miss Pete, but he is out of pain and at peace with the Lord.

Per Peter’s request, there will be no services. Any donations can please be given to Cancer Care Northwest in Spokane, WA in his name. Love to Pete, “Today, Tomorrow, Forever.” To leave online condolences, please visit our website at http://www.danekasfh.com
