Moses Lake driver injured in two-vehicle collision near Ritzville

A Moses Lake driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 90, milepost 221 outside of Ritzville city limits on Sept. 18.

A Washington State Patrol (WSP) report stated Mandy Epolito, 36, of Moses Lake, was driving a Chevy Impala westbound on I-90 when she crossed the median and collided with a Kenworth semi-truck.

Epolito was transported to East Adams Rural Healthcare the driver of the semi-truck, Ronald Weaver, 52, of East Earl, Pennsylvania, was not injured.

Adams County Fire Protection District (ACFPD) No. 1 and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office assisted WSP. County Fire Chief Scott Kembel said two vehicles with six firefighters responded.

Kembel noted crews were on scene for an hour where they provided traffic control assistance and cleaned diesel fuel that spilled onto the roadway. The agency also assisted EMTs with transporting Epolito into the ambulance.

WSP cited Epolito for second-degree negligent driving.
