Miller, Russell join Lind Elementary staff paraprofessionals: Alicia Miller

The Lind-Ritzville Cooperative Schools hired two staff members to serve as paraprofessional educators at Lind Elementary School, Alicia Miller and Joneel Russel.

Miller and Russell will serve in a variety of roles at Lind Elementary, focusing primarily on working with special education students.

Alicia Miller

Alicia Miller grew up in Lind and graduated from Lind High School in 2000. She married her high school sweetheart and together they have a four-year-old son who is attending preschool at Lind Elementary.

Miller said her family enjoys going on adventures together, especially at the beach.

After she graduated from high school, Miller planned on acquiring a teaching degree, until she and her husband lost their first child to a genetic disease. She explained their son has autism, and working with him and learning the challenges he faces has inspired her to follow her dreams.

Prior to working at Lind, Miller completed early childhood education courses. She was also a full-time substitute teacher at the preschool last year.

She said working at Lind Elementary has been rewarding and educational, not only for her, but also for her son.

“I’m not sure who is more excited to get up and go to school in the morning,” Miller added.
