Last updated 9/13/2018 at Noon

The Adams County Historical Society will host their Annual Dinner and Program on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at the Ritzville Zion Philadelphia United Church of Christ.

The event is the annual fundraiser for the Society. The cost is $20 per person, and the meal is catered by Tee Time. This event is open to anyone interested in Adams County history.

The program will be presented by Richard Scheuerman, entitled “Indian Summers, Stories Behind the Native American Portraits by Anne Harder Wyatt.”

Scheuerman was born and raised on a farm between Endicott and St. John. He has studied local history and tribes. His book “Finding Chief Kamiakin” is based on extensive interviews with Columbia Plateau tribal elders and original sources related to the military campaigns of Edward Steptoe and George Wright.

He has several publications, which includes “Palouse Country, a Land and It’s People” and “Volga Germans, Pioneers of the Northwest”.

After a 44-year career in education, he and his wife are retired and now live in Richland.

Tickets for the event are available from the following board members: Rudy Plager, Morgane Roth, Sue Sackmann, Barbara Jolly, Karin Clinesmith and Jennifer Noser.

The ACHS board continues to make improvements to the museum building in Lind. The goal is to have the community room done this fall, and open with displays of the museum items.

There are currently two vacant board positions, and the board is always accepting volunteers to assist with projects.
