Aug. 5, 12:04 p.m. – Complainant advised of a red pickup stuck in a cattle guard on East Danekas Road in Ritzville.

Aug. 5, 3:17 p.m. – Complainant advised of a deceased person in a residence on Cooper Avenue.

Aug. 6, 9:37 a.m. – Several complainants advised of a horse running loose near the overpass on East Wellsandt Road. Deputy Ned Bernath contacted the owner and the horse was placed back in its pasture.

Aug. 6, 11:56 a.m. – Deer Lodge County Sheriff’s Office advised of a potential suicidal subject traveling through the Lind area. Deputy Bernath learned the subject had already passed through and was several miles away.

Aug. 6, 1:21 p.m. – BNSF Railroad advised of a hazardous condition of children playing near and on the railroad tracks at the Ritzville overpass at I-90, milepost 237. Deputy Bernath checked the area but the children had left the area prior to his arrival.

Aug. 6, 4:55 p.m. – A Lind complainant advised of potential animal abuse on First Street. ACSO responded to the location and contacted the owner. The animals did not appear to be neglected or abused. The subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Aug. 6, 8:35 p.m. – Complainant advised of cattle loose near Highway 21 and Lind-Hatton Road. Deputy Hunter Klewin checked the area and did not locate any cattle on the loose.

Aug. 7, 10:32 a.m. – Complainant advised of someone trying to steal fuel from a tractor on East Rehn Road. The complainant believed the subject was interrupted before any quantity of fuel could be taken.

Aug. 7, 3:36 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of an assault that had taken place in their residence on Third Street. Deputy Bernath investigated and determined that an assault and threats to kill had been made. Bernath contacted several locations in the Lind area where the subject had hid from law enforcement in the past in an attempt to locate the subject. Bernath reported there is provable cause for arrest of the subject.

Aug. 7, 5:09 p.m. – Complainant advised of a vehicle parked at the railroad overpass on Gun Club Road in Ritzville with a male subject laying the back. Deputy Bernath responded and contacted two subjects in the back seat of the vehicle who advised they were fine.

Aug. 8, 8:24 a.m. – Complainant advised of a vehicle driving near their property and then on their property when the complainant attempted to block them from leaving on Lauer and Harder roads. Deputy Bernath contacted all parties involved, and although the subject seemed suspicious, no crime was committed and they were free to leave. Complainant was advised to contact law enforcement first in the future instead of attempted to block a public roadway.

Aug. 8, 6:17 p.m. – Complainant advised of a broken down vehicle near Lind City Park. The owner said they would return to get the vehicle on Aug. 11.

Aug. 9, 12:02 a.m. – Deputy Jeff Lane responded to an agency assist call with the Ritzville Police Department for a theft in progress on West Seventh Avenue.

Aug. 9, 7:11 a.m. – Complainant advised of a cow along the roadway near Highway 21 and Lind-Hatton Road. Deputy Bernath contacted the owner who sent an individual to put the cow back.

Aug. 9, 8:32 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of multiple phone calls from a subject who advised they need to change the IP address because it had been compromised in several countries. Complainant stated they were aware it was a scam, and attempted to call back the number, which then appeared as the complainant’s own phone number. The complainant was advised scammers can change the phone number to any number they want, and in the future should simply hang up on the caller.

Aug. 9, 12:28 p.m. – Complainant advised of a gray Dodge van running stop signs and traveling at a high rate of speed every morning on North S Street in Lind. Deputy Bernath observed the subject running through the stop sign at a high rate of speed, and issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.

Aug. 9, 3:11 p.m. – Complainant advised of a power line down and a field on fire at Providence and Howard roads. Sergeant Ben Buriak responded to the location and found the power line. It is unknown what caused the line to go down. Fire units arrived on scene and started putting out the fire while Buriak provided traffic control until no longer needed.

Aug. 9, 9:13 p.m. – Complainant advised of a semi truck in the roadway with no lights on at Moody and Arlt roads. Deputy Lane responded and a second vehicle had arrived to place triangles out. The truck driver had driven into the complainant’s field and attempted to turn around, but became stuck and broke a part of the hitch. The truck owner was retrieving parts to fix the truck.

Aug. 10, 8:05 a.m. – Lind complainant on Fourth Street advised the front door of the residence had been pushed open. Deputy Bernath responded and nothing inside the house appeared to be disturbed.
