Appreciative of community support

The Washtucna Pioneer Cemetery commissioners would like to again thank community members and volunteers for your continued support.

In October 2017, our cemetery was honored at the America in Bloom Symposium in Boston for Outstanding Cemetery. This summer maintenance is again going smoothly with contracted services from Mike Phelps, Sr.

We have our regular bills for water, electricity, fuel, and equipment maintenance. This year we were able to replace our lawn mower. To keep up with maintenance costs we are asking for a Levy of $10,500, which is the same amount, we requested last year. This should be on the August ballot.

Mike Ebert resigned as commissioner in December following many years of service.

Thank you, Mike, for your dedication.

Commissioners Wayne Johnstone and Lora Hille continue to serve on the board. Roy McKenzie was appointed this spring to fill the third commissioner position.

Wayne handles plot sales, manages historical records, and supervises the maintenance of the site, and Lora handles duties of correspondence and financial paperwork. We ask that Wayne be contacted prior to cremation burials, as we have guidelines to follow.

We appreciate all of your support.

Lora Hille, Washtucna
