The Journal subscription, paper rates to increase June 1

Effective June 1, 2018, The Ritzville Adams County Journal will be increasing subscription rates, as well as the cost of an individual newspaper.

This change comes after years of discussion, and the need for the business to match the increasing rates of paper, salaries and postage required to produce the weekly product.

The store copy rate for the newspaper will increase to $.75, beginning with The Journal’s June 7 edition. The last time The Journal increased store copy rates was in 1993.

The newspaper will continue to be carried and sold in 20 local businesses in Ritzville and Lind. All local stores who sell the product have been notified of the June 1 rate increase.

Subscription rates will increase for residents of Adams County, as well as those residing within the state of Washington. The cost to mail a newspaper is the same within the state as outside of the state, and the rates will be adjusted to compensate the business for that cost.

All Adams County residents will now pay $30 for a one-year subscription or $58 for a two-year subscription. All subscribers residing outside of Adams County will be asked to pay $36 for a one-year subscription, or $70 for a two-year subscription.

Subscribers within Adams County who plan on residing in a different location during the winter months are asked to pay for the out-of-county rate.

During the last full week of May, The Journal is offering a discount for all individuals interested in being a subscriber or adding to their existing subscriptions.

Adams County residents can pay $24 for a one-year subscription and outside of county residents can pay $32 for a one-year subscription.

For a two-year subscription, the discounted rates will be doubled.

The subscription rate discount will run from May 21-25. All mail postmarked during that time that contains subscription payments will be eligible for the discount.

Payments can be sent directly to The Journal office in person or by mail at PO Box 288, Ritzville WA 99169.

Check and cash payments can be accepted at the local office, but all credit card payments will be processed by The Journal’s parent company, Free Press Publishing.
