Broncos return home to compete in the Undeberg Invite

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field team are preparing for competition as they host their first meet of the season: the Undeberg Invitational.

With nearly 600 athletes expected to compete, the Broncos are prepped and ready to be contenders at the annual invitational track meet.

Field events begin at 10:45 a.m. at Jimmie Snider Field, followed by running events at 11 a.m. Bronc Boosters will have the concession stand open for the duration of the event.

Local residents are encouraged to come support all of the athletes competing in the meet. Named after Harold Undeberg, he was a supporter and encourager of all young athletes and practiced positivity at every meet he was involved in as a starter.

The Broncos competed in the NE 1B/2B D7/9 League Meet on April 18 at Lakeside High School.

The women’s team placed fourth with 77 points. The men’s team placed seventh with 26 points.

Rachel Schell and Rose Melville continued to dominate competition in their individual races, with both athletes netting two first place finishes during the outing.

The two athletes also teamed up to secure a third place finish in the 4x100-meter relay.

Sierra Kiel also tacked points onto the team’s total by earning a second place finish in the high jump. Freshman Brynne Nelson earned a personal record and fourth place with her best throw in the shot put contest.

For the men’s team, Jack Anderson netted the majority of points with a second place finish in high jump, third place in long jump and fourth in the 200-meter.

Freshman Conrad Ziemer also secured a third place finish at the meet, this time in the 400-meter race.

On April 21, the Broncos competed in the Quincy Invite at Quincy High School.

The women’s team had another successful outing, netting seventh place with 40 total points. The men’s team placed 16th with six points.

Schell earned a first place finish in the 100-meter race, followed by a third place finish in the 200. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles.

Melville earned a first place finish in the 3200-meter race, while Kiel placed sixth in the high jump.

Anderson netted the points for the men’s team with a third place finish in the high jump event.
