Jeffrey Stevens resigned from his seat as Adams County Commissioner District 3 on March 15.

His resignation letter states he had originally intended to retire in August, but was persuaded to stay on the board through the budgeting cycle.

“The budget is complete and seven months have passed since my originally planned date. Thank you for your support of both Adams County and myself.”

Stevens’ commissioner term was set to expire in 2018.

The Adams County Republican Party is hosting a special meeting at Othello City Hall on April 11 at 5:30 p.m.

During the meeting, the party’s elected precinct officers will interview applicants for the County Commissioner District 3 position. The applicants will be narrowed down to three candidates.

County Commissioners John Marshall and Roger Hartwig will appoint Stevens’ replacement from the three candidates.
