ESSAY CONTEST. Members of the VFW Post No. 11446 presented awards to local students for their essays in the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen essay contest on Sunday, Jan. 28. The VFW Post No. 11446 in Ritzville presented local students with awards for their essays in the Patriot’s Pen competition.
Essay winners in the third grade local contest were first place to Douglas Olson, second place to Henry McRae and third place to Joe Meyers.
At the fourth grade level, McKaylynn Yarnell placed first locally and also placed in districts, followed by Preslee Obrien in second place and Matthew Clinesmith in third.
The fifth grade award winners were Alyssa Williams in first place, Addy Colbert in second and Brody Boness in third place.
