Lenora Elsie (Laib) Sackmann

On Dec. 6, with family at her side, Lenora Elsie (Laib) Sackmann died and was reunited with her loving husband Godfrey, of 54 years, and her beautiful daughter Alice (Sackmann) Munn.

Lenora, one of 11 children, was born to Edward and Emma (Stoller) Laib, a farmer and homemaker respectively, in Warden, on Jan. 19, 1922.

Raised on the family farm, Lenora graduated from Warden High School in 1940.

On Nov. 14, 1943, she married the love of her life, Godfrey Sackmann of Lind. Lenora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Godfrey and Lenora moved to Washtucna in 1951 and began a legacy of faith and love, raising three children on their newly acquired, wheat and cattle ranch.

Retiring from farming in 1981, the couple moved back to Lind and enjoyed spending time together; fishing, gardening, and being involved with their church. They were honored to serve their local community as Grand Marshals in the Lind Rodeo Parade, in June of 1991.

Lenora was kind and soft-spoken, a gentle soul who dearly loved God and her family. Lenora’s heart was to serve others, as she was involved in community organizations such as Rebekah’s Lodge, Rimrock Grange, Lind Community Church, Women’s Fellowship, and the Lind Senior Center.

She had many hobbies she enjoyed; cooking, baking, puzzles, quilting, and crocheting. Each year, she would donate quilts or afghans to the annual Lind Chamber of Commerce Auction, where her quilts were one of the top bids.

Lenora is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

Lenora is survived by her two sons, Larry (Linda) and Dennis (Connie); eight grandchildren, Charlie, Jeff (Vanessa), Todd (Josie), Jason (Jody) Munn, Amber (Nick) Stewart, Lisa (Ken) Watkins, Denae Sackmann and Danielle Bolin; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delmar and Harvey Laib, two sisters, Della Kiesz and June Larsen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, as well as brothers Herb and Alvin Laib, sisters Irma Floether, Edna Langenheder, Verna Burghard and Lillian Nix, as well as son in-law Vern Munn.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, from noon to 5 p.m. at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville.

The family invites you to share with them on Friday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. with a vault interment at the Lind Cemetery, after which a Celebration of Life will continue at the Ritzville Foursquare Church, at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lind Senior Center or the Women’s Fellowship at the Lind Community Church. To leave condolences, visit http://www.danekasfh.com
