Healthy living promoted at Fair on Saturday

The 12th Annual Safety, Health and Wellness Fair returns on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and is hosted by Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2.

Due to the current poor air quality levels, the Health Fair will be hosted at the Ritzville Grade School this year.

The annual event includes multiple demonstrations on safety and proactive ways to stay healthy.

All three local law enforcement departments also have booths at the fair encouraging safety.

The annual event provides visitors with an extensive amount of health and safety information as well as providing community members with opportunities for health tests.

The complete list of vendors for the fair are: Adams County Health Department, Adams County Behavioral Health, Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Aging and Adult Care of Central Washington, Avon, Coordinated Care, Damsel in Defense, Dr. Warren Kragt, DSHS Community Services Division, Inland Northwest Blood Center, Northwest Oral Health Outreach, Office of Insurance Commissioner, Paparazzi Jewelry, People for People, Juice Plus, Rose Garden Estates, Ritzville Police Department, Ritzville Chiropractic, Scentsy, Thrive, Vision Haus, Washington State Patrol and Zanimay.

Activities

A broad range of vendors is slated for the annual fair, and visitors have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities throughout the day.

Direct labs provided at the health fair include general health panels and a vitamin D test. The labs are partially sponsored by East Adams County Healthcare Foundation.

Costco is providing hearing screenings, and East Adams Rural Healthcare is offering blood pressure tests. Inland Northwest Blood Center is also coordinating a blood drive during the event.

Those attending the Health Fair are encouraged to visit with members of the East Adams Rural Healthcare Physical Thearapy Department to learn more about the Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) Program.

A variety of kids’ activities are planned during the event and include a treasure hunt, games and games for all ages. Children are invited to compete in their own treasure hunt and can also get free glitter tattoos.

There are lots of prizes for the whole family, and adults have a vendor treasure hunt with prizes given also.

Food and snacks will also be available at the event.

Blood Drive

East Adams Rural Healthcare and the Inland Northwest Blood Center are hosting a blood drive on Sept. 9, in coordination with the annual Health Fair. Donation hours run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest.
