For the 19th year, the Lind Chamber of Commerce is inviting local residents to join in the festivities surrounding the annual Christmas Parade in Lind on Sunday, Dec. 11, with activities beginning at 3 p.m.

For the third consecutive year, the Lind Lions Club is assisting in the efforts to help increase the amount of activities at the event.

The day’s festivities begin with free chili, soup and hot dogs at the Lind Senior Center at 3 p.m. Also beginning at 3 p.m. and running until 5:30 p.m., are Santa Claus pictures. This year, there is a cost of $3 per photo with Santa.

At 5:30 p.m., the annual parade begins when lighted floats travel through the streets adorned with festive lights.

Any individual who is interested in entering a float in the parade can download an entry form from the Town of Lind’s website.

Registration for floats is from 4-4:45 p.m. at the Lind Lions Club building, with judging occurring promptly at 5 p.m.

Cash prizes are awarded to the top three entries with the first place float receiving $250, second place float earns $150 and third place gets $100.

During the event, there is also a free raffle drawing and a few lucky people will go home with prizes.

The Lind Lions Club has donated a lighted yard Santa, lighted yard snowman, four Razor scooters and one child sandbox loader. Winchester Gems has donated one children’s Strider Bike to the event as well.

The drawing takes place immediately after the parade and winners must be present to receive the prize.

The raffle entries are free and individuals can sign up at the Lind Senior Center from 3-5:30 p.m. on Dec. 11.
