Jantz selected as a Washington Wheat Ambassador

Lind-Ritzville High School senior Tessa Jantz has been selected to represent Washington wheat farmers and will serve as a Washington Wheat Ambassador for the upcoming year.

Jantz of Ritzville and Nicholas Schultheis of Colton were selected after an initial written application process that also included submitting a short introductory video.

Jantz and Schultheis will each be giving a speech at the upcoming Washington Association of Wheat Growers Annual Awards Banquet on Nov. 10 during the Tri-State Grain Growers Convention in Coeur d’Alene.

The seniors will be judged on the quality of their presentation, and at the conclusion of the banquet, scholarships funded by the Washington Wheat Foundation of $2,500 and $2,000 will be awarded.

Jantz and Schultheis will represent Washington wheat farmers at various civic and community events and will also participate in an advocacy trip to Olympia with WAWG leaders.

Jantz is the daughter of Donna Koch and Steve Jantz. She has maintained a strong GPA throughout high school and has been active in numerous school and community activities.

In addition to participating in volleyball, basketball, golf and dance, Jantz serves as the ASB Vice President and represents her community as the Distinguished Young Woman of Ritzville.

She is also very active in FFA, competing at the National level in Soil Evaluation and Agronomy. Jantz plans on entering the nursing field, specializing in pediatrics with a focus on nutrition.

Schultheis is the son of Greg and Kim Schultheis and their fifth generation family farm is near Colton. He has maintained strong scholastic achievement in high school while being very active in school and community activities.

Among his list of interests include being involved in ASB, National Honor Society, FFA, basketball, and baseball. Schultheis participates in community service through his various roles.

He plans on attending Oregon State University or Washington State University to study Ag Business Management and Communications.
