Christmas Kickoff Weekend Dec. 4-5

The annual Ritzville Christmas Kickoff Weekend occurs on Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5, throughout the City of Ritzville.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, Mayor Linda Kadlec will have the honor of lighting the tree, followed by caroling at the tree around 5:45 p.m.

The tree lighting ceremony is being held in a new location this year, at the Ritzville Public Library lawn.

Local businesses are participating in a Shop Local campaign during the two-day event.

The businesses’ specials for the holiday season will be listed in the Dec. 3 edition of The Journal.

The Ritzville Festivals Association is hosting the annual Christmas tree sale, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 5.

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, the AAUW Holiday Bazaar is occurring at the Ritzville Grade School.

Also on Saturday morning, local law enforcement officers will participate in the annual Shop With a Cop event.

The free children’s movie matinee, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, is on Dec. 5. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. with the movie starting at 2 p.m.

The Ritzville Fire Department will deliver Santa after the movie, where children will receive free treats.
