Weed nusiance: mistaken identity
Last updated 5/21/2015 at Noon
Bur buttercup, sometimes mistaken for puncturevine due to its spiny bur appearance, is an early spring annual growing 2–5 inches tall and often in a dense like mat.
Though not on the county weeds list, this obnoxious weed can be controlled by hoeing, digging, pulling or with the use of certain herbicides. It is best done before flowering and seed occur.
For more information, visit the Adams County Noxious Weed Control Board office at 201 West Broadway in Ritzville or call 659-1806.
