Car Show returns downtown Sunday

The Ritzville Classic Car Club rolls out the red carpet every Sunday of Memorial Day weekend for auto enthusiasts and visitors during its annual extravaganza.

The event, Classics on Main Street, is being displayed in downtown Ritzville for the second consecutive year, as it is a location well suited to highlight the unique and spectacular styles of the vehicles.

The show in downtown Ritzville begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 24, and lasts until 3 p.m.

Residents are advised Main Avenue will be closed from Division Street to Jefferson Street from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Washington Street is closed from the alley next to the Post Office to Railroad Avenue, but Railroad Avenue will remain open for thoroughfare traffic.

Along with vendors, door prizes and raffles are awarded throughout the day.

Food vendors are not onsite, as the event committee is encouraging visitors to frequent the downtown businesses. Soup It Up, Memories Diner, The Eagles and The Pastime are all open or hosting specials in coordination with the event.

The Burroughs’ Museum and the Train Depot are open during the same hours as the event.

Ritzville alumni visiting for the annual banquet are encouraged to stop by the Depot and look through the alumni memorabilia.

Before the show closes, several awards are awarded, including President’s Choice, Undeberg Memorial, Participant’s Choice, People’s Choice Car, People’s Choice Truck, People’s Choice Motorcycle, Longest Distance Traveled and Oldest Vehicle.
