LWK tennis starts season against Davenport

The LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus tennis team began league competition against Davenport on March 28. The Tigercats returned home with a 3-2 victory.

In the No. 1 singles position, Logan Miller faced Rick Newmeyer. The match went in favor of Newmayer 6-4, 6-2. In the No. 2 singles match, Douglas McKeen earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over Danny Moldren.

Kaese Ramos took on Matthew Wright in the No. 3 singles match. Ramos, a newcomer to the team, won the match 6-1, 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Derek McKeen and Garrett Correll faced Evan Powers and Drake Elwood. The Davenport duo earned the win 7-5, 6-2.

In the final match of the day, Miller and Douglas McKeen defeated Chuck Leamen and Matt Delafield 8-2 in a pro-set doubles match.

The LWK Tigercats then went on the road to face St. George’s on March 31. Miller faced Mike Hamilton in the No. 1 singles match, and Hamilton took the win 6-0, 6-1. Mark Hay defeated Tigercat Douglas McKeen 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles match. Ramos also fell to the Dragon’s athlete Jacob Martin, 6-0, 6-0.

In the No. 1 singles match, Brittany Gordon faced Manisha Sinha. Sinha defeated Gordon, 6-0, 6-0.

Derek McKeen and Correll were defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Collin Cremer and Daniel Gimble.
