LaCrosse resident awarded for service

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Weather Service’s National Weather Service recognized Nancy Taylor of LaCrosse for over 40 years of service in the Cooperative Weather Observer Program with the agency’s Thomas Jefferson award.

John Livingstone presented her with the award on Sept. 20; Livingstone is the meteorologist in charge of NOAA’s National Weather Service forecast office in Spokane.

Taylor and her late husband Richard Taylor began taking COOP weather observations in 1974. Over the years they have recorded temperature extremes of 113 F and -30 F.
