Church creates family

One thing I like about this part of Adam County is the number of good churches found here. Some, like my home church of Benge Community Church, are more off the beaten path; but after the country drive to get there, we always feel like we’ve arrived home to family. The dear people in Benge have become like family to us; and they really are, because we are all part of God’s family.

With all of the many children there are in Benge, I am reminded of how Jesus said to let the little children come unto Him for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these (see Mark 10:14). When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He told them to pray “Our Father, who art in heaven…” (Matt. 6:9). He wants to be a father to us, for us to come to him with the simple trusting faith of a child and become part of His family.

Jesus tells us: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life,” (John 3:16). John tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,” (John 1:12).

Family is something that’s important to God. Jesus said, “Whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother,” (Mark 3:35). “And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us,” (First John 3:23).

God invites us all to become part of His family.
