Community involvement scholarship deadline is March 7

The deadline for the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center for Quality Communities scholarship is March 7. Applications for the scholarship can be picked up at Ritzville City Hall during regular business hours.

The AWC Center for Quality Communities scholarship awards four $1,250 scholarships for high school seniors who are actively involved in their community and want to pursue post-secondary education. The Ritzville City Council decided to support this scholarship and allow students the opportunity to apply.

Students who are eligible for this scholarship must meet the following requirements. The student must be involved with a city government or community/school leadership activity. They must qualify to graduate from high school, complete home school or receive a GED in spring/summer 2013. Students must be a Washington state resident, and plan to continue their education during the 2014-2015 school year.

The Ritzville City Council Committee sends the final application of their nominee to the AWC Center for Quality Communities Scholarship by March 14. The scholarship winners should be contacted by May.
