Oct. 31, 7:42 p.m. – Adams County Sheriff’s Office reported a traffic hazard on North Johnson Road and West Lind-Warden Road. Deputy Jeffrey Lane removed a portion of a car seat from the roadway.

Oct. 31, 5:33 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a vehicle on fire at North Johnson Road and West Lind-Warden Road. Deputy Lane later determined the vehicle had been stolen from Warden.

Oct. 31, 9:34 a.m. – Richland complainant advised he had not seen or heard from his sister since Sunday when she went to a male’s residence on May Avenue in Washtucna. Deputy Dan Verhey made contact with the male and found the female was there. Upon contact with the female, Verhey found she was okay and did not have cell service at the location. Complainant was contacted and advised of the findings.

Oct. 30, 2:18 p.m. – Ritzville complainant reported a suspicious male walking around a house on East Danekas Road and the elderly female is home alone. WSP Trooper Harrington and Deputy Verhey checked the area and were unable to locate any subjects. Contact was made with the complainant and everything was determined to be okay.

Oct. 30, 10:58 a.m. – Washtucna complainant contacted Deputy Verhey and reported the theft of a shotgun on North Main Street. The complainant did not have serial numbers for the weapon at the time and will find the numbers and make contact again. The investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 29, 1:08 p.m. – ADT Security Services advised of a window alarm at East Weber Road in Ritzville. Deputy Verhey and a WSP trooper checked the residence and found no problems. It was believed animals or the wind activated the alarm.

Oct. 29, 11:44 a.m. – Lind complainant requested a junk vehicle form at East Sixth Street. Deputy Verhey contacted the complainant, the vehicle was inspected and Verhey provided the complainant with a junk vehicle form.

Oct. 28, 10:05 a.m. ­– Sheriff John Hunt witnessed a subject jumping up and down on the side of I-90 near Milepost 216. Sheriff Hunt stopped to see what as wrong and subject advised he had run out of gas. Sheriff Hunt transported the subject to Jake’s Café in Ritzville.

Oct. 28, 7:52 a.m. – Benge complainant advised of damaged roadway signs on North Benge-Ritzville Road. Deputy Verhey found the roadway signs had been pushed over during the night.

Oct. 27, 12:25 p.m. –

Othello complainant advised a tractor on his property had been stolen on East Weber Road sometime during the week. Complainant advised he would contact the owner of the tractor, and the owner would contact Deputy Bernath with the tractor’s listed value and information. On Oct. 28, complainant contacted Bernath to report he found the tractor. His father had taken it and forgot to tell him.

Oct. 27, 8:06 a.m. – Lind complainant advised dispatch he had confronted a male subject who was hunting in the ravine next to his residence on West Main Street. Complainant advised the subject threatened him when he told him to leave and requested contact with a deputy. Deputy Bernath contacted the complainant and learned no threat had been made. Bernath contacted the subject who advised he was walking through the area to get out of town to target shoot. There was no indication he had been hunting.

Oct. 26, 10:32 p.m. – Ritzville Police Department requested assistance at East Second Avenue with a possible burglary. Deputy Lane responded.

Oct. 26, 7:45 p.m. – While checking the area, Deputy Lane found damage at the Lind Schools dugouts.

Oct. 26, 6:39 p.m. – Lind complainant reported receiving a call about people screaming near the Lind Ag Barn. The second call was received about someone screaming, now in the baseball dugouts. Deputy Lane responded and it was determined to be young siblings fighting at the ag barn, and the dugouts were unrelated to the call.

Oct. 26, 6:08 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a subject driving recklessly on West Third Street. Deputy Lane responded.

Oct. 25, 10:37 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a fire on East Wellsandt Road and East Weber Road. Deputy Lane determined it to be a small bonfire and the subjects had permission to be on the property. The fire department reported seeing three vehicles leave prior to their arrival and at least one light in the field. None of the subjects had been drinking and left as directed by Lane.

Oct. 25, 10:26 p.m. – Ritzville Police Department requested assistance with a runaway juvenile.

Oct. 25, 6:03 p.m. – While in the area of North Rand Lane, Deputy Bernath was advised by dispatch that the listed subject had a warrant for driving suspended third. Bernath arrested and booked the subject without incident.

Oct. 25, 4:21 p.m. – Washtucna complainant requested additional patrols as a house on Main Street will have windows left open overnight. The complainant made the request on behalf of the family that is in town cleaning the house.

Oct. 25, 2:33 p.m. – Benge complainant advised of a vehicle parking next to his property on South Mack Road and the driver is shooting a shotgun from the roadway onto the property. Complainant advised the subject did not go onto the property and left when confronted. Deputy Verhey turned the information over to Fish and Wildlife.

Oct. 25, 2:06 p.m. – Ritzville complainant advised of a vehicle across the road from a relative’s property on North Rand Lane. Complainant advised of a male walking near the property, talking on a cell phone and looking towards the property. Deputy Bernath contacted the subject who advised he was there working on motors for the electric fans associated with the silos. Bernath contacted the complainant and advised on what the subject was doing there.

Oct. 25, 12:36 a.m. – Yakima complainant advised he was out of gas at North Anderson Road and East Schrag Road. Deputy Bernath discovered the complainant was actually on I-90 and Washington State Patrol was advised.

Oct. 24, 7:33 p.m. – Seattle complainant advised of running out of gas at East Rosenoff Road and North Paha-Packard Road. Deputy Bernath transported the subject to Jake’s Texaco and then back to the vehicle.

Oct. 24, 6:17 p.m. – Hatton complainant advised of an ongoing issue with a white Honda car driving through town a high rate. A-15 advised by phone of a possible vehicle plate. Deputy Bernath made contact with the subject’s mother and left a business card for the driver to call. Bernath made contact with the subject on Oct. 25 and advised him of the complaint. The subject advised he would slow down.

Oct. 24, 12:11 a.m. – Ritzville complainant advised a vehicle was missing from by their shop on North Rand Lane. The complainant had been out of the area and was unsure of how long the vehicle had been gone, but believed she knew who had taken it. Deputy Bernath contacted the complainant who advised the vehicle had been returned and she was holding it for back rent. Bernath advised the complainant this was a civil matter and she would be unable to keep the vehicle as back rent.

Oct. 23, 10:06 p.m. –

Ritzville complainant advised she is heading home from Spokane and would like a deputy to check the property on North Rand Lane for trespassing before going home. Deputy Bernath checked the property and outlying areas and no trespassers were located. Bernath contacted the complainant and advised her of the same.

Oct. 23, 3:52 p.m. – Lind complainant reported school crossing guards telling him an older male with gray hair, driving a light brown van made contact with them after school. The male subject asked for directions to a location in the Lind area, and the crossing guards found this out of place. Complainant wished to make a note of it and will be more visible after school hours. Deputy Verhey was in the area in the morning on Oct. 24 and found no problems, but spoke with the complainant and offered assistance. Complainant advised there had not been any further issues at this time. Verhey patrolled the area again on Oct. 25.

Oct. 23, 2:05 p.m. – Washtucna complainant advised of a male subject showing up at Washtucna Schools to pick up a child. Complainant requested contact, as the subject did not have documents to show he could get the child. Deputy Verhey contacted the complainant, and the subject and the subject’s attorney provided documents. The child was turned over to the subject.

Oct. 23, 11:21 a.m. – Ritzville complainant received a text from the stepson stating there was a male subject on the property on North Rand Lane. Sergeant Taylor checked the area and nothing appeared disturbed. Taylor later made contact with the complainant who advised the trespass happened the day before.

Oct. 22, 5:50 p.m. – Lind complainant reported a small fire lit by juveniles on East Third Street. Deputy Lane responded and the juveniles had started a fire, which they put out, near the back of the sand dunes. The male juveniles blamed the females and vice versa for starting the fire. Lane told the juveniles the consequences of starting fires. It is unknown who started the fire.

Oct. 22, 3:31 p.m. – Lind complainant advised of a male subject walking in the area of South Van Marter Avenue with a gun. Upon contact, the complainant advised Deputy Verhey he observed one of the males walking with what he believed was a gun, and did not know if it was a firearm or BB gun. Verhey contacted the subjects who advised they were walking their dogs and picked up a stick. The subjects did say they had a BB gun, but advised it was broken at this time. Verhey did not observe any BB guns or firearms upon contact. The subjects were told of their responsibilities with a BB gun and that they could not possess a live firearm.

Oct. 22, 11:07 a.m. – Kentucky complainant mailed a Ritzville subject’s license to the Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch attempted to find information on the subject but was unable. The license was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Oct. 22, 7:37 a.m. – Ritzville complainant reported a building had been broken into over the weekend on North Suko Road. Deputy Verhey made contact with the complainant and reported the items that had been taken. The complainant requested extra patrols in the area, specifically behind the shop and areas out of view from the roadway.

Oct. 21, 6:39 p.m. – Ritzville complainant reported a missing 700-pound, five to six month old, black heifer in the area of East Wellsandt Road. The heifer is halter-broken and will go to people. The complainant reported finding a hole in the fence that had not been in there the previous night.

Oct. 21, 1:10 p.m. – Lind complainant called in advising of a domestic dispute on East Fifth Street.

Oct. 21, 12:43 p.m. – ADT Security Services reported an alarm on East Urquhart Road. The residence and the area was checked and nothing was out of the ordinary.

Oct. 21, 10:22 a.m. –

Ritzville complainant reported a possible hazardous, blocking, disabled vehicle on North Marcellus Road and East Tokio Road. Upon contact, Deputy Verhey found the vehicle was parked, facing north with the driver’s side rear bumper and tire in the roadway. The vehicle was also blocking the view of the westbound Tokio stop sign. The registered owner was contact and advised he had sold the vehicle. Adams Automotive towed the vehicle.

Oct. 21, 9:16 a.m. – Hatton complainant contacted dispatch to request assistance with processing hulk vehicle forms. Adolfo Coronado completed the hulk vehicle forms and advised the complainant on how to process the vehicles.

Oct. 21, 6:42 a.m. – Washtucna complainant reported finding a female subject deceased when he attempted to wake her up. Deputy Verhey responded and the coroner and Danekas Funeral Home were contacted. The decedent was turned over to Danekas. CPS temporarily placed the 13-year-old complainant at a friend’s residence.

Oct. 20, 8:24 p.m. – Yakima complainant reported subjects arguing on the side of the road and the female appeared to be upset on North Highway 21. Deputy Lane contacted the subjects who advised they all was fine and there was no evidence of assault.

Oct. 20, 6:52 p.m. – Hatton complainant advised of a vehicle in the area driving fast with kids in the bed of the truck. Deputy Coronado checked the area and did not locate any vehicles on the roadway. Coronado located the vehicle parked at a residence with children playing around it. Coronado contacted the subject and advised of the complaint.

The subject stated he was not driving fast and that all the kids did not fit in the single cab truck.
