Ritzville parade forms available at chamber, online

The Ritzville Community Parade is set for Saturday, Aug. 31, during Labor Day weekend in downtown Ritzville. Parade entry forms are available at the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce office, located at 111 West Main Avenue, as well as online at http://visitritzville.com and clicking on the link “Parade Entry Form” on the right hand side of the page.

The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce began working with the Ritzville Festivals Association (RFA) prior to the 2012 parade to prepare for this year when most of the work will be organized by chamber staff and board, with support from the RFA.

The RFA approached the chamber board in April 2012.

As stated in the chamber’s minutes of April 16, 2012, “The average age of the membership is 60 years and older. The group currently has eight active members and expects to lose four members this year.”

The chamber board agreed by consensus during the July 2012 meeting to keep the parade alive and set a strong course of action.

In addition to providing valuable knowledge through years of running the parade, the RFA has agreed to help fund the parade for the next five years.

The RFA is continuing its other programs, such as Distinguished Young Woman, selling Christmas trees, holding the Penny Auction, selling ads on the trailer for the float and offering scholarships for the Distinguished Young Woman.

For more information about the Ritzville Community Parade, or for an entry form, contact the chamber office in person, by phone at 659-1936, or by email at [email protected].
