Lady Broncos struggle early

The first three games of the regular season weren’t kind to the Lady Broncos as they were handed a trio of losses.

New head coach John Galbreath expects the team to rebound this weekend. Liking their chances for a pair of wins against Liberty and Mary Walker.

The early season games started last Friday at home against a nonleague Columbia-Burbank. The Lady Broncos fell, 55-46. Saturday they squared off against the two-time state champions from Reardan, losing that contest 81-35.

Tuesday night at Northwest Christian the Lady Broncos picked up their third loss, 55-19.

Against Columbia Burbank, Maya Wahl led the team scoring with 14 points.

Jenna Bennett added 10 and Sydney Nelson had seven. Brooke Pichette scored six while Mallory Kessler added five.

Randi York scored three and Dalyn Killian had one point.

During the Reardan game Bennett led the team with nine points.

Killian and Wahl each scored eight. Pichette added six while Kessler and Nelson each had two.

“I saw a lot of good things,” Galbreath said of the Columbia-Burbank game. “It’s always nerve racking during the first game of the year, not knowing what to expect. I was a little disappointed defensively on the effort. I think we broke down.”
