Burning season opens this weekend

Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 Chief Scott Kembel and Ritzville Fire Department Chief Andy Lefevre, have announced that burning season is open for areas serviced by the two agencies.

The season ends in the spring when vegetation starts to dry in the warmer weather.

The chiefs remind city and county residents that burning is allowed only for yard waste and absolutely no burn barrels are permitted.

Burning permits are required and may be obtained at Iverson Law Office at 120 West Main Avenue.

A call must be placed to the sheriff’s office before starting fires and again once the fire has been extinguished.
