As of Tuesday evening, the benefit dinner to support the expense of upcoming medical treatments for Bob Tracy helped raise $8,795, with donations still coming in. The Ritzville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 2739 hosted the dinner and silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Sharon Oestreich, who helped coordinate the event, estimated 125 people attended the dinner and over 150 tickets were sold. The money raised is a total from the silent auction, dinner and donations, as well as the funds raised from the pies, which were auctioned off by Kirk Danekas.

Bob, who was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, is currently waiting for a match to have bone marrow transplant. Once a match is found, Bob and his wife, Sandy, will go to Seattle for an estimated four months, during which time Bob will undergo surgery and remain under constant observation.

“A big thank you to the community, to all of the helpers,” Oestreich said, thankful for the many people who contributed to the success of the event. “It never ceases to amaze me how this community pulls together.”

Any individual interested in making a donation to the Tracy’s is asked to send the money to the Ritzville Auxiliary at PO Box 322 in Ritzville. All checks should also be made out to the Ritzville Auxiliary.
