Lind Council awards bid for treatment plant

The Lind Town Council unanimously approved to award the bid for the Wastewater Treatment Plant to Kearsley Construction, Inc. during the regular meeting on Oct. 9.

Kearsley Construction was the low bidder with a base bid of $2,553,567, an amount $217,000 over the engineers estimate provided by USKH, Inc.

USKH civil engineer, Alan Gay P.E., spoke with the Lind Town Council during the meeting and advised them to move forward with awarding the bid. Gay explained that the Department of Ecology has awarded the town an additional $230,000 grant to help fund the project, moving the amount of funding up to $2.83 million.

Aside from the base bid, Gay recommended the council also approve schedules B and H. The combined amount of the two alternates is $33,849. The council also approved both alternates with the base bid during the vote.

Judging by feedback from the contractor, Gay believes construction on the project would begin next April. Over the next 10 business days, the mayor, contractor and inspector will be signing contracts prepared by USKH.
